Green Initiatives
IMA wants to work with you to make the 91st Annual Conference & Exposition a more environmentally friendly meeting. Below are the initiatives we are taking this year. Thank you for your support in this effort!
IMA Initiatives:
- All advance marketing will be done on recycled material.
- Online registration will be encouraged instead of paper registration.
- The attendee roster will be available electronically and will be sent one week prior to the Conference.
- All session handouts will be distributed on a CD-rom at on-site registration.
- The final program and session evaluation form notepads will be printed on recycled paper.
- Conference badges will be printed on recycled paper.
- Conference badge holders will be made of recycled material.
- A Conference bag drop will be available on-site for any attendee who wants to donate his/her bag after the event.
Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel Initiatives:
- Atlantis Laundry Water System reduces 38,000 gallons of chemicals and 2.6 million gallons of water used to launder towels and sheets each year.
- Hotel-wide Single Stream Recycling program and Food Composting program reducing the amount of Post Consumer Waste by 80%.
- Working with Constellation Energy to further reduce our carbon footprint with green roofs, solar power, and “green” energy from a wind farm in Pennsylvania.
- Battery recycling and disposal program.
- Kitchen cooking oil recycling program.
- Tinted windows in the meeting space to reduce energy costs.
- Contracts an environmentally friendly transportation service using hybrid and blue tec vehicles.
- Paperless Banquet menus.
- E-folio’s are available for all guests so they can review their bill online.
- All sales proposals are Web based.
- All meeting and convention bills are available electronically.
- ENERGY STAR® certified property
- Water saving showers heads in all guest rooms
- Water conserving 1.6pgf toilets in all guest rooms
- Sensors and water conserving faucets in all public restrooms
- Purified Water Stations in foyer areas
- Pens made from recycled materials
- Eco Friendly Water service
Marriott Hotels and Resorts Initiatives:
- Replaced light bulbs with energy-efficient bulbs
- Installed low-flow showerheads and toilets
- Introduced water/energy saving linen program
- Operates the most ENERGY STAR® certified properties in the industry, as part of Marriott’s portfolio of brands
- Involves its global workforce in eco-volunteerism
