Case Conference


June 14 & 15, 2008

Join us at IMA’s first Case Conference being held in Tampa, FL, in conjunction with the 89th Annual Conference & Exposition, June 14-18, 2008.

The goal of the Case Conference is to bring together academics and practitioners to discuss cases relating to current issues in the field of management accounting, deepening and enhancing the perspectives of both groups of attendees. This event also aims to promote the collaboration of academics and practitioners in the development of real-world-based cases for use in the accounting curriculum. The registration fee for this event is $150.

SATURDAY, JUNE 14


1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Session 1: Panel Discussion—Effective Teaching and Writing of Case Studies
Join a panel of experts in case writing as they discuss topics such as:

  • Undergraduate vs. graduate case teaching/writing
  • Characteristics of a good case
  • Balance between realism and pedagogical objectives
  • Essential teaching strategies
  • Using practitioners effectively in case writing/teaching
  • Teaching cases live vs. online

    Session 2: Lean Accounting Cases

    Case Conference Reception
    This reception is open to attendees of both the Case Conference and the IMA Annual Conference & Exposition who are interested
    in the development of practice-based management accounting cases. Practitioners with interesting or unique practice experience are encouraged to attend
    and share their experiences with academics, with the goal of developing future case studies.
